440032 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 1956 or so I think, after the Korean war. OBOE was also bad for dyslexics. My teachers used to say that due to my dyslexia, I'd never be good a poetry, but look at me now, I just made a beautiful vase and an ashtray! 5 1

sfGnome Posted April 16 Posted April 16 On the topic of the phonetic alphabet, I was asked recently to provide a list of the phonetic alphabet for a group of people who were going to be using radios to control a sports event, and I got in trouble from one of the organisers claiming that I’d misspelled ’juliett’. On further investigation, I found that the extra ‘t’ was added so that French-speaking people didn’t pronounce it ‘juli-ay’. 1 1
