Guest p51mustang Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Hi, I have been a member for a while just browsing, but I thought that I would enter a post to introduce myself. I have been an EAA and SAAA member for almost 30 years, in 1985 I finished and flew Australias' first Viking Dragonfly which I flew and set a "World Class (C1a) Point to Point Speed Record" between Brisbane to Melbourne. Unfortunately, due to bad weather I was forced to land and stay overnight at Shepparton and continue next morning. My speed was calculated at 66Km/hr (I might as well have driven by car as my Dragonfly cruised at 130kts), however, I have a Beautiful cerificate from the FAI for the record and an "Australian National Record" certificate, it was a great experience. I loved and flew my Dragonfly for 160 hrs before selling it in favor of building an "FEW Mustang Replica" (hence my username). I have been building the Mustang for almost 15 years now and has kept me out of flying (spending my money on building) apart from the mandatory flying to keep my licence alive. I am just completing a Hangar at Bacchus Marsh (Vic) and hope to make up for lost flying time soon. This is a great forum with some excellent input from its members - happy flying!
farri Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Satisfaction In Building. p51Mustang, I started flying back in the mid eighties by building a copy of a WT2 Chinook,it gave me great satisfaction to do something I had never done before, it flew safely for more than 20 years until it was pensioned off. I also own and love the open cockpit and good visibility of the Maxair Drifter, and it`s still a very affordable way to get into the air, simply for the joy of flying. Cheers. Frank.
Kaz Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Hi p51Mustang! Be sure to let us know when you have your aircraft at the hanger, I'd love to drop over to visit and see where you're up to with it! Cheers, Kaz
