Les Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Hi everyone, My name is Les.I am retired and live in Bourke,NSW.I purchased a Beech Skipper VH-UMX in September 2007 in Perth and flew it home.I gained my PPL in 1966 and have around 1600 hrs,all in single engine airplanes.Any other Skipper owners/pilots out there?Would like to hear from you.
Guest Marius Grobler Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Hi Les. Compared to you I'm a brand newbie. Welcome anyway. Peace
Ewen McPhee Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 VH-UMX has quite a pedigree http://www.edcoatescollection.com/ac1/austu/VH-UMX.html It is interesting to google the registrations to see what went before.
hihosland Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 [ It is interesting to google the registrations to see what went before. Does anyone know why registrations in 1929 started with VH-UAA and only started to use the VH-AAA series 10 years later? Davidh
Les Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 Yes,apparently it was a leftover from the British registrations. The 3rd last letter was always U.I think they used 4 or 5 letters in all,or probably still do.
Les Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 Ewan, Thanks for the pedigree! I reckon the old biplane and my Skipper are similar in cruise speed too! 93 knots.Interesting pics though.
