Trip Reconmendations?

Hey there, i was just wondering if you guys new any good aerodromes to fly into in Victoria?

 

I just received my PPL and am very keen to take my mates and family to some cool aerodromes especially the ones with towns within walking distance so they can shout me lunch.

G'day Tom, can't really help you although I think Shepperton is pretty close to town. I'm from SA but passed there a few months back. Look it up on GoogleEarth.

 

Got to ask but, how on earth do you go from Tom to Kevineggsbacon?

haha thanks ill check it out. yeah the name came from Kevin Bacon the actor and thought it would be amusing if it was kevin eggs and the bacon but it didn't fit so it turned out to be kevineggsbacon.

Try Mansfield. Not far at all from Lilydale and you can easily walk into town, where there are some great eateries. Quite a scenic flight too. Best to go via Eildon VOR to avoid the tiger country.

 

Its a nice long grass strip, called Walshs strip, and its prolly about 2 or 3 k into town on the Mansfield to Mt Buller Road.

 

A bit further away there is also a place called Asses Ears Wilderness Lodge in the Grampians which has a 1200 m strip , cabins and a Restaurant. Havent been there yet but have heard good things about it.

 

Apollo Bay is also not far from town and the flight along the coast is spectacular.

This is great thanks for the posts cant wait to get out there! im actually learning at Lilydale so ill defently head up to Mansfield and ill be sure to pop into Pioneer aviation at Latrobe Valley!
