Guest berriejean Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 G’Day all I am a new member and I am a 50 year old male living in Nowra NSW Aust, I have about 20 hours in a gyro,1 hour in a ultralight ,and a lot longer in a hang glider, I have a tandem hang glider and I wish to add power to it, I am thinking about building a minimun design by John Walmsley. or a zolja. I have a bad ankle and am unable to footlaunch or land, but these 2 designs both takeoff and land on wheels. I am on a pension so money is tight these designs are also very cheep, the only real cost will be the engine as I have a big graveyard of gliders doing nothing. I joined this forum so I could learn and make new friends Berrie,
BigPete Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Well, Berrie, you've come to the right place - plenty of info and help right here mate.:thumb_up: regards :big_grin:
motzartmerv Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 G'day.. Have you been out to the club at jaspers??..we operate most weekends.. We train in a gazelle but there's quite a few types owned by members aswell..lots of trikes, gazelle's, a few jabiru's and RV's..you should come out if you havn't already.. cheers
Guest berriejean Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 G’Day Yes I have been to jaspers brush club, but not recently. I guess I just don’t know many members. I hear that the club has a BBQ once every month. When are they on? I think I should go and meet new members ,I had a couple of lessons from Nevil some years ago ,I have thought about doing it again just to get my feet of the ground ,It has been years since I last flew, I just did not have the money. I read that john walmsley said that his minimum can be built for about $1000 using a used solo 210 engine. I already have a wing so all I need is an engine, as I already have the aluminum and cables, all I have to buy is an engine and an bolts etc, so with a bit of hard work and luck I hope to live again. Berrie,
motzartmerv Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 G'day.. i think the bbq's are on the first sat of evry month.. We have a new CFI now and new instructors.. We even have a simulator, pretty technical for an RAA club aye.. Anyway, drop out, if there's been some rain then the field is usually bogged up so they don't fly..PM me if you like and ill give you some phone numbers.. cheers
