Barefootpilot Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I was just wondering if anyone has experiance in leaving Jabs out in the open and not keeping them hangared? I know there are a couple at BK that seem to live on tie downs, do you they hold up alright in the open? Does the fiber glass start to break down really quickly (any idea on lifespan in the open?) Tips and Tricks anyone? Cheers Adam
Geoff Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Be sure to tape up the doors if it looks like rain
Barefootpilot Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 I was thinking on a perminate basis so it would have a windscreen cover and engine bungs so nothing could nest! More interested in the fuse life with UV dust and bugs. Cheers
Guest brentc Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 If I were to leave mine out I'd contact Dianne from Punkinhead Air Sports and get her to make me a full set of covers. $700-$800 from memory and it may as well be indoors when it's in this outfit.
motzartmerv Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 We leave all ours outside. They have been online for about 2 years. So far no signs of anything major. But covered for $800 seems like a cheap way for piece of mind. Ya need to cover the wooden prop to. c heers
jacmiles Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Be sure to tape up the doors if it looks like rain so if you tape up the doors is this the only place the rain can get in?
motzartmerv Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Jabiru have had a fix out for the doors for a while now,no leaking now.
Geoff Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 so if you tape up the doors is this the only place the rain can get in? Yes in my 160 the doors are the only place that leaks.
Ross Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 When the undercoat goes on my J160 it is supposed to be protected against UV radiation. I cannot comment on the factory paint in that regard.
