Guest Cralis Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Check this. From South Africa, landing at a small airport to retire.. Bit of a dodgy landing though! Watch the rudder once he lands...
BLA82 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Thanks Cralis Cralis, I have added your two videos to our Video Clip Libary.
Ultralights Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 if i could have just 1 airliner, it would be the SP!
Guest basscheffers Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 At least the saffers were more game than my fellow countrymen! When KLM donated a retired 747-300 combi (half PAX, half freight!) to the museum at Lelystad (EHLE) they decided to dismantle it a good bit and put it on a barge to bring it down. And that has a 1300m sealed runway!
Deskpilot Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 These photos show how narrow is narrow.
Guest David C Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Not a lot of space between the outboard wheels and the runway edge is there !!.. Congrats go out to the flight deck crew .. I assume the SP has the same wheel base as the 747-200 in the photos . I wonder when that one flew in ?? Dave C
motzartmerv Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Holding off a bit of x-wind to.. great job alright..
Guest Cralis Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Here's the airport... and I am told that the plane stopped before the intersection of the runways! And this is where it's parked now... Pretty cool! That's quite a donation! I watched a show on Discovery where they take old planes apart, and sell off servicable parts.. and they made millions off an old 747... I must assume they raided it for parts...
Tomo Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Have you seen the 747-200 at the Longreach airport, Had a tour through it the other day... Pretty nice:thumb_up:!! Apparently it was donated as well, something like 6.5million bucks worth they told us.... The pic under my name is takin of me in front of it also:laugh: Cheers Tom
