Guest sjarrell Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Couple of rookie questions regarding Jabiru's "dual magneto high voltage transitorized ignition system" ... a) Is the system totally independent from the rest of the electrical system (i.e. can it work in case of a total battery failure?) b) are there any shared components between the two systems (i.e. are they totally redundant?) Thanks! Steve
Geoff Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 A) Yes the system is totally independent from the rest of the electrical system (i.e. it will work in the case of a total battery failure?) B) No they are totally separate systems
Yenn Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 They may be totally separate from the electrical system, but they are nearly impossible to prop start. they need to turn at 300rpm to generate a spark, so you will need a starter and a good battery. Forget Odyssey on a winters morning.
Guest Nelson Smith Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Hi Yenn, Our 2.2l Starts coverd in ice. Even with 830 hours on the clock. The engine is also untouched. Nelson
Yenn Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 G'day Nelson. Is it an Odyssey battery you are using?
Guest Nelson Smith Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Hi Yenn, Yes the odyssey battery is the original and is over 5 years old Nelson
dewie Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Our 2.2 always starts regardless of temp, but the Odyssey battery is only 3 years old
slartibartfast Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 My Odyssey failed after 6 months. I have a Deka now.
