Guest PeterMJ Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I plan to fly from Redcliffe to Bathurst in a few weeks and still trying to work out the best route (I am waiting to update airnav software as my current software only covers nsw-vic, and have ordered vtc etc for Brisbane). I was thinking of flying the inland route as I will be flying in a new plane and hope to keep distraction levels (more with the coastal route?) to a minimum. The plane has about 5 hours endurance. Any advice on - best route out of brisbane - reasonable rest - fuel stops between Goondawindi and Mudgee - any other factors I should be aware of would be much appreciated.
Guest tezza Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 How many stops do you want? Inverell would be a nice half wayish point Redcliff - Inverell 190 nm Inverell - Bathurst 225 nm
motzartmerv Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Plan both routes, its easy to get cut off on the western side of the range due to wx.. coastal route is much lower. Moree Narrabri, then around the range or over it through rylstone will kepp you away from most of the hills. She's a bit tiggery north of katoomba but CTR step is high so you can have a good alt over there. cheers, have fun:thumb_up:
Captain Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I plan to fly from Redcliffe to Bathurst I sometimes use Gunnedah as a fuel stop when going thru there. The Aero Club are friendly and just need a few minutes notice to open up.
