Guest extralite Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Thought this was an interesting company. Produces belted Chevy conversions, mainly for RV^ and 7's. Uses Chevy Vortec V-6 4.3 liter, and the Chevy V-8 350 engines. Seems to be a good fuel saving over the standard fit and couldnt find any reports of problems encountered so far. Guest RLP Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 If they go anything like they do on the ground they should be nice. My chevvie big block is a beaut.
Guest ozzie Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 saw a scaled P51 flying at Scone Airshow while back. powered by a Chevy. looked like a P51 went like a P51 sounded like a ski boat. Ozzie
Guest ROM Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Kingaroy Gliding Club have been running a V6 in their Pawnee tug and have now converted the tug to a 6 litre GM V8. There are a few more Pawnee airframes that are in line to get these V8's for tug duties in various clubs so nothing new there as the gliding movement has got this basically sorted some time ago. facthunter Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 V8 Chev. Being a simple push-rod motor and an alloy block of proven strength, it would be ONE of the auto sourced engines that might prove to find a place in aviation. The tug situation (with hot climbs and cooling problems on descent) like the paradropping situation as well, should be better addressed with the liquid cooled motor. I still think the air-cooled motor has a strong future in "normal" aviation applications, but I would like to see more adjustable "cowl gills" fitted to control cooling temps and keep drag to a minimum with both types. Nev..
pylon500 Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 sounded like a ski boat. This Titan 51 conversion with a YouTube - Titan T-51 Fly Over motor doesn't sound too bad..;) Arthur.
