Guest Biggles Jr Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 hey, i am 14 turning 15 in a matter of weeks. i am training in a cessna 150 and the weight increase is whats stopping me going solo. can someone who may know something let me know a rough approximation on when the weight increase will pass,,,, thanks Ryan ;)
Guest Brett Campany Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 The weight increase isn't stopping you from going solo mate. Are you going for PPL or RAA cert? RAA cert, you won't be able to go solo in a C150 UNTIL the weight increase has been introduced.
Guest Biggles Jr Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 As the 150 is GA i can't go solo until i am 16 (another 12 months) so i am waiting for the law to pass and i can fly solo at 15. i am considering going to merimbula aqero club to fly solo on my birthday, thats all and then keep training in merimbula. i can't seem to get on to the guys up there but will go to visit soon.
Guest basscheffers Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Don't hold your breath, the weight increase could be a while. And then before you can solo, the school will first have to re-register their 150 with RA-Aus and I assume the instructors and CFI will need RA-Aus papers as well if they don't have them yet. If you would really like to solo ASAP, you should probably switch to an RA-Aus plane and school! Also remember if you go somewhere else just for the joy of solo, they can only do that if you have an RA-Aus student pilot certificate.
motzartmerv Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Yep.. can pretty much say that if you wait for the weight increase you will be over 16 by the time it gets introduced and translates to an RAA reg c150 at your school...i see you are at merrimbula, there's an RAA school at moruya.. think they have a gazelle...
