Deskpilot Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Yesterday evening, about 50 pilots, both GA and RA, gathered in an upstairs room of a pub in Adelaide for the purpose of taking the Human Factor's exam. Organized by James Hubbard and Niel Wickens of the Recreational Pilots Academy down at Murray Bridge, the evening, despite our 41 degree heat, was a total success, not only in the knowledge gained from Niels lecture, but from the commradery as well. With a few well needed breaks for drinks and finger food, served, incidently, by a waitress who really put the 'Liveware to Liveware' link of the SHELL diagram to the test(if you don't understand, do the coarse) Neil presented all the knowledge required to complete the exam. I don't think there will be any failures amounst us although there was a lot of questioning of the questions as there always seems to be two correct answers(multi choice) This was a brilliant way to take another step on our way to being better pilots. The evening went from 6 to 11 and no interuptions were allowed as there's an awfull lot to get through. For a cost of $30, plus another 20 if you wanted to purchase the manual, it was money well spent and I recommend other schools try a similar operation.
Guest Crezzi Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I'm glad you had such a successful evening Doug. Hopefully I'm not breaking any site rules by mentioning that we have started doing the same thing at Caboolture. It sounds like we are following a very similar format so good to know that you found it so useful. Cheers John
Guest Crezzi Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Next one is tomorrow so a bit short notice (& its fully booked anyway) ! Current plan is to do 1 a month (probably on a Sunday afternoon) but we haven't fixed the dates for the next ones yet. If you are interested in participating, PM me any dates you will be in the area & I'll see if we can fix something up. Cheers John
Skykid Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Wish we had a system like that over here.... Sadly we don't have enought students to warrant it.. Thanks H :yin_yan:
Deskpilot Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 Skykid, this isn't only for students. All pilots must take this exam so look further afield to set up a similar course.
Skykid Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I know. I've done my human fatcors exam. I was just saying that there is no aviation classes here. Thanks H :yin_yan:
Guest basscheffers Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 If there's another one in Adelaide any time soon, please let me know!
lazerin Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Bas, I think they're going to get the exams in at Forsyth next week, hopefully. Have you had a chance to sit your flight test yet?
Guest basscheffers Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Hey Kian. Not going for the test just yet; if I do I still can't go anywhere or take anyone. So just going straight into navs, starting with a theory session tomorrow morning and the first flight next Saturday. After all that is done we can get all the tests and endorsements done in one go.
