Guest Pabloako Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I need to apply for an ASIC, however I lived in the UK for over 25 years. Does anyone know if I need to apply for the police check from the UK and send it along with my application or can RAA apply on my behalf, like they do for the Australian Police check?
Guest Crezzi Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Hi Paul I don't remember sending a UK criminal record history with my ASIC application. The background checks include making enquiries with DIMIA who would probably have the details of any dodgy deeds you've done from your visa application. Cheers John PS you do obviously have to list all of the addresses you lived at overseas though. I took me ages to remember all of mine.
Guest Ruprect Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I just got an asic to carry out work at Sydney airport. Quoting the application form- "If you have resided outside Australia for a period of six months or longer in the previous 10 years you will be required to provide a criminal history assessment from that country/s in order for regulation 6.28 to be satisfied." I got mine in 14 days. A colleague whom spent some time working in Thailand in the past 10 years is still waiting three months later for his criminal check to arrive from Thailand. Maybe the poms will do it a little quicker?
Guest Crezzi Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 In that case I guess I must have supplied a criminal record check with my ASIC application then. Sorry if I gave you bum info Paul.
