gofastclint Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I have just decided that my religion is flying and if i get 19,999 other people to say this too, bye bye tax. call me mad, but is it not true? You can land at any recreational airstrip in the world in any plane, walk up to fellow flyers and have a chat. I constantly hear of American flyers staying over here with total strangers only to offer a place to stay over there to Aussie flyers. How many people have stayed at Oshkosh with American friends met through flying and flying forums? So what if someone says what is flying as a religion? You like things that fly and that's it, plain and simple. It would not conflict with peoples current religions. If you were a christian it would be, say hi to the clouds on Saturday and say hi to god on Sunday. If it was as simple as "I like to fly" it would cover everything from hot air balloons to anA380s or Jabiru J120 to a RC MiG 29. everyone could join. If everything we pay in tax when it comes to flying would go back into our flying, imagine the growth. My great grandfather was a test pilot for the Polish Air force, who built aircraft and performed aerobatics before anyone on this forum was alive. My mums cousin is famed for landing his Harrier on an Argentinian freighter when he ran out of fuel in the Falklands war. these stories have influenced me greatly since I was very young and I'm sure many people have many other great stories to share. Its in our blood to fly it brings us closer as friends and satisfies us as humans, I am currently building a website with a simple form to register people from all over the world. clearly stating that Their religion is flying. Thoughts from you would be great, PS, my wife tells me I'm nuts constantly, so you don't need to comment on this as it would be only stating the obvious.
motzartmerv Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I like your thinkin...I wont go into a philasophical discussion on here (seeing as i cant even spell it it wouldnt be worth much anyway), ..
Guest ozzie Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 sounds spot on to me. our neighbours are religious types(won't say what type) but they have set up their house as a place of worship and every thursday night they have half a dozen people over. with this set up they pay no rates or associated tax and told us they got 6 grand from the rudd hand outs last month GRRR. They also never take part in any of our streets social events except to ring the cops to complain from anything from a bit of noise to the kids playing in the street. so if they can pull this scam i think that we have a good chance as well. Aviatoligy should have a huge following. great idea.
Guest Brett Campany Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Aviatoligy, I like it! I'm in!!
gofastclint Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 yeah, good idea to leave the names of religion out of it, especially when some religions tell you to take up a sword and kill all people who aren't members of that paticular religion. All that aside, how many people are members of a flying club? all of us, well lets all get classed as a religion and go flying.
gofastclint Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 Aviatoligy, I like it!I'm in!! Wow, you are the official namer of a religion. How do you feel?
Guest Brett Campany Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Wow, you are the official namer of a religion. How do you feel? Gotta give Ozzie that credit!! He thunk it! I'm even going to make it a group in Facebook, see how many people we can get involved there as well. This could be interesting!

Yenn Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 "my wife tells me I'm nuts" If your wife is correct, you have all the attributes needed to get seriously into religion. If I had to be an ologist, I think aviatology would be the best way to go.
Guest ozzie Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 How do i feel? bit like that poor bloke who got nailed to a tree one friday a few years ago:big_grin:
gofastclint Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 How do i feel? bit like that poor bloke who got nailed to a tree one friday a few years ago:big_grin: hahahahaha oh and hahahahha
gofastclint Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 can everyone who is on facebook please join the group Aviatoligy, its the 1st step to getting this up and running.
gofastclint Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 Aviatoligy is a great idea because it makes an aerodrome a place of worship. stopping closure of so many aerodromes around the country. it would be like trying to demolish a church without the members consent, imagine if we had that power?
Guest basscheffers Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 We could just join the well known Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and claim He uses our airports.
Captain Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Aviatoligy, I like it! Just one problem fellas. Not too many virgins around here ................ Re the http://www.flyingspaghettimonster.com/ ..... I'm already a member and I have the T-shirt, stickers and mugs to prove it

Skykid Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Aviatology forever and everyone!:thumb_up::big_grin: Thanks H :yin_yan:
tangocharlie123 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 no seriosly Guys and Gals So would this mean that I would be able to make my Garage in a set of units my room of worship and build my new plane as the local council keeps telling me an aircraft belongs on an airfield.. not in a suburban garage. Oh by the way you can keep it at home but don't work on it. If so count me in!!!!! Ps: Letter from the council to be put up for disscussion early Feb when I get home.. Cheers Peter
Guest basscheffers Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Let me guess: it's really got nothing to do with the plane, just with the fact that to build the plane you are parking your car outside and that is why neigbours complained? How else would the council even know? Absurd...
Guest ozzie Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 see 'if i were da King' thread. i have a special place on the wall for councils. useless peckerheads
Gibbo Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 see 'if i were da King' thread. i have a special place on the wall for councils. You could be 'da King'.. Every religion needs a figurehead!
tangocharlie123 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 No a complaint from a neighbor who has had it in for me from the day I brought my new 1100watt stereo and 3 days later brought the plane home to be repaired.. then parked on common property for a couple of days before moving it into the garage.. I have three garages one for wings, one for storage/ workshop and now just aquired one for the car.. example during christmas I had the plane home to transport to Mackay for repairs went out to modify a bracket for a shelf and had the stupid neighbor complain that I was doing engineering works on the plane. Council turned up found no plane, but I had left the control surfaces on the bench when they looked in from another garage and agreed with her. Now the impetus is on them to prove that I had broken the laws..
tangocharlie123 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Now back to regular programming well the best that us nuts can do anyway....
Guest basscheffers Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Unless you are running a business illegally at the property or being a (noise) nuisance, it doesn't matter if you are building a cubby house or a full size replica of the titantic (piece by piece!) in your garage. How about all the folks rebuilding classic cars in their garage? Good luck with them finding anything to pin on you! But if it comes to that, I am sure someone from AOPA, SAAA, RA-Aus and the like will hapily testify how common it is to work on your own aircraft in your garage. In fact, just a letter from them might do the trick before it comes to blows...
