Guest Maj Millard Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Picked up my LW with only about 300 hrs on it (2000 model). The right fuel cap had always been a bit sticky, the left one fine. Went out to go flying the other day, doing fuel checks, and the right fuel cap came half out and jammed solid. Couldn't move it in or out. Ended up (after scrubbing the flight of course) having to force it off using two shifters, a hammer and screwdriver totally ruining the whole set up in the process. No problemo, down to the old boat shop to get a new one. Love Howie he used to be a boat builder. They've got the part in stock, and Oh she says, you had better get some Lanolin grease to put on it, or it will grow together and bind up !!!!. Back home to check service manual for the fuel tank removal proceedure. Shxx..got to pull off the wing to get the fuel tank out !!!!!! grumble, grumble ,grumble. Pulled the wing today, and removed the tank, plus replaced some 'in need' fuel lines, lined the welder up for tomorrow to weld in the new cap receptical. Hell I could even get a fly this weekend. Sheep grease is cheap hey.............
