Guest keeffe Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Recco's, Does anyone have any plans of a long eze type of machine? I wish to build a single seat 503 powered canard. Anyone know of any small canards that have been built Mike
youngmic Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have a set of Cozy lll plans, if interested. You could also try the various canard web sites, canard zone, ez squadron etc. About 20 odd Long Ez's and 12 odd Vari eze's in the country, they don't get much smaller than the Vari-eze's. Also have the plans for the Vari-eze but like chainsaws and girlfriends not they're for lending. M

Guest keeffe Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 They look a bit strange at first but they make sense to me. Canards look like they fly really well. The only way I would build one without plans is if I can get some serious composite training. Mike
Guest Maj Millard Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Cunards are fine if everything is where it should be, actually very efficient. The Craig Catto Goldwing was a good machine which unfortunatly was powered originally by the Cayuna 2 stroke, which was a mongrel engine prone to seizing. With a modern DCDI 503 they would go real well. Lent themselve to the addition of a fully enclosed canopy also. saw Craig demonstrate one at an airshow once, and they were quite impressive even low and slow, where surprisingly they were quite manourvable. And for those interested in a bit of history, the original FAA Part 103 UL reg upper weight limit at the time was 254 LBS. They simply came up with that figure by taking the heaviest machine at the time, which was the Goldwing.
Guest ozzie Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 There is a Goldwing somewhere in Oz. WA i think
Guest asic45 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 What about IBIS Canard homebuilt airplane - J.C.JUNQUA
Guest Maj Millard Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 There was one up here, but the original builder sold it. The new owner found a chunk of lead up front and removed it. I think it crashed on the next takeoff for some reason !!!!!!!
Guest Maj Millard Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 That froggy Ibis looks like a nice little machine, wonder if it would be light enough for RAA here.
Guest keeffe Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 What aboutIBIS Canard homebuilt airplane - J.C.JUNQUA ASIC, thanks for your post mate that is a great little canard.
Student Pilot Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 They clain no stall with Varieze and Quickie type machines, they don't actually stall but go into an uncontrolled spiral dive for several thousand feet if pushed hard enough.
