G'day,

after Narromine I'm thinking of going on to Ballina for a few days. Does anyone have experience of that trip and could you suggest the preferred route with reasons?

many thanks

Mike

I went to Dubbo which is next door and back. I went a straight line to Rapville then on to ballina. The straight line to Rappville keeps you out of Tamworth CTA and rappville to Ybna takes you around Evans head restricted. There are plenty of strips along the way if you need a break or fuel and only a small amount of tiger country.

As I have an aversion to tiger country, I detour slightly - track Coonabarabran, Gunnedah, Manilla (keeps you north of Tamworth control), Armidale (Great coffee & burgers, shell fuel, toilets). Then east towards Bald Hill,South Grafton, from here I talk to Brisbane to find out about Evans Head R641, if clear, then up the coast to Ballina or around behind to Casino, then east to Ballina.

Cheers JR

Thanks Guys,

I'm learning some new local landmarks. My wife grew up at Meerschaum Vale and she'd never heard of Rappville!!

Is Bald Hill the area behind Macksville JRMobile? If so where do you track from there to avoid the Class D at Coffs on your way to South Grafton?

Regards

Mike

It's OK - found Bald Hills - West of Dorrigo.

Also direct on track Gunnedah - Armidale the Flight Planning software shows R414 SFC to FL075. However it's not listed in ERSA - anyone know the story?

Nearly final question 024_cool.gif.7a88a3168ebd868f5549631161e2b369.gif

What is the go with Tyagarah? Can anyone use it, and what is the go with the D area that covers it? Is it still OK for RAA a/c or not? Is there fuel?

Sorry for the rash of questions!!

Kind regards

Mike

R414 SFC-7500 activated by Notam, Army Firing range. I have always treated it as active and divert slightly to the south approaching YARM. (Never seen it mentioned in a Notam)

Tyagarah, Anyone can use it, Landing fees to Byron Shire Council. The danger is parachutists and I fly around there. Be careful as some aircraft have no radio and military aircraft like to fly low and fast along the coast
