Mick Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Reported in today's Fraser Coast Chronicle....... Yesterday a J160 flipped while attempting to take off from Fraser Island's Orchid Beach airstrip. The pilot was flown by helicopter to Hervey Bay hospital suffering serious cuts to his head while the passenger received a few cuts & bruises. The incident was witnessed by a local GA pilot who was quoted as saying he "watched a small plane skid across the dusty Orchid Beach airstrip, clip trees and slam into a bank". It was reported on the local radio that the aircraft involved was from Caboolture. See attached pic from the front page of today's local paper.
nathan_c Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Im fairly sure the caboolture statement is correct. It looks very much like the plane says 'CABOOLTURE RECREATIONAL AVIATION' or something along those lines, and I have seen a few aircraft with that type of writing at caboolture. Thats very interesting though, because Im sure I have been in a circuit with that aircraft when gliding at caboolture. Could be wrong though. EDIT - Just looked into it a little bit more, definately from Caboolture, typing the rego of the jab into google produces a clear picture of it in the first website.
