Guest ozzie Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 yeah always something getting in the way. Luskintyre xmas party this saturday, lunch with the Tigers next saturday along with the drop zones xmas party. our neighbourhood xmas street party the friday after. That Lazair SS hanging up is all worn out. It was owned by the Monterey Police Dept for four years, they flew it every day the weather allowed. They also had a Quicksilver for a short time but it kept having power failures. they only had one engine failure with the SS but it could easily maintain height with the JPX engines. The Lazair just celebrated it's 30th birthday out of the 3000 plus built there are still around a thousand flying. It is still number 1 of type on the Canadian ultralight register. who knows how many in the USA as they fly under FAR103 and there are no records for them. beautiful series 3 completely rebuilt going for $6000, USD. comes with floats and snow skis. Ozzie
Guest Maj Millard Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Ozzie, Would you wear a good lazair out ?. Just throw a couple new motors at it, some grease at the wheel bearings, two new castors at the tail, lube all the push rods and away you go !!.......................................................................................
Robert Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 The aircraft used in "The Gods Must Be Crazy 2" was based on the LAZAIR I think after seeing the movie everyone wanted one as setup in the movie Cheers
pylon500 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I recently downloaded the assembly drawings for the Lazair from this Site. A 5 Mb PDF. Many others at the Parent Site. Arthur.
Guest Maj Millard Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 So it looks like me, Ozzie, and Pylon with a bit of Lazair time....would you agree 'once flown , never forgotten'.....??
