Admin Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 An ultralight runs out of fuel right after takeoff! --- Watch Now!
Guest Maj Millard Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Hey looks like a good old Eipper MXL. At least he went straight ahead, not that he had much choice !. You could hear the engine starting to drop RPMs, and I think he could too. Don't think he would not have been able to walk away. He might choose to put fuel in next time if that was the problem. Years ago I did a lot of flying and passenger rides in an MXL 2 (503 DC). If you lost the engine solo, even with the stick full foward instantly, the thing would just about stop in the air, and it sometimes took around 200 ft or so, to get any decent airspeed back again. This is assuming you had the 200 ft I mean. A lot of the private owners would put a weight of some kind on the passenger seat if flying solo....
BLA82 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 There is another copy of this video floating around and it lists his injuries, broken ankles (both) broken leg broken collar bone broken ribs x 4 lacirations Did you notice as soon as the fan quits he goes full stick back:loopy:
lbarnes Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 This is apparently a report from the pilot. Marty Lunsford's Crash
