yesterday i chanced to see a story on TV about the stars and making of that crazy sitcom Gilligans' Island. Jim Backus who played the millionaire told a story of when he and is real life wife were holidaying in Rome in a upmarket hotel

 

Jim was in the foyer waiting for his wife to come down from their room. he was approached by a prostitute who said that for 100 US dollars that he could have all of this and she posed herself in front of him. Jim replied "100 dollars! i think i have only five on me.' the hooker took offence thinking that Jim was talking the price down and sounded off as Italian women only can and stormed off yelling obsenities.

 

Later that night Jim and his wife are in the hotel resturant having tea. the hooker comes up to him and slaps him on the arm and says pointing at his wife. '

 

"you see what you get for you're lousy five dollars"
