BLA82 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I know gyro's don't fall under the ra-aus banner but I feel as we are all recreational pilots we all feel the loss. On last Friday a Gyro went down near AYR in Nth Queensland which ended the life of the pilot. This accident has been linked to a equipment issue that might be gyro specific but similiar issues could be found in our aircraft. Below is the link to the AD from the ASRA website and I would like to thank Allan Wardill from ASRA for his assistance. I would like to pass on our condolences to the family and the ASRA community. http://www.asra.org.au/documents/AD_AA/AD_2009.01_Control_Pushrods_Rod%20Ends.pdf
Guest ozzie Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 A small "wittness" hole should be drilled in the tube at the appropriate measurement so when the rod end is screwed in to show that it has indeed the 50% length required. you will find this wittness hole in the female version rod end. provision for lock wiring would be a good idea as well. ozzie
