Guest ozzie Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 When i 'flew' the B737 sim a couple of weeks ago they recorded the flights ont DVD. I hae watched it a few times now and after the initial buzz of watching myself in a big complex cockpit i realised that i was making a few simple mistakes that i now know if i went back to do it agan i would correct them with the instructor before he clock starts running. i have videoed heaps of skydiving students over the years and i realise just how important a tool it is for training skydivers of all levels as it is extremly hard to rely ones abilty to recall every detail. So does any student or schools out there use video as a training aid? If not then why. i do belive that it should be considered as it would help a lot in the progression of a student to pass their flight training in minimal time without compromising safety ect. if you do ,then how do you belive it to be a positive benifit to your (students)progression. Guest Brett Campany Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I've videoed some of my flights in the circuit and yeah I've learnt a bit from them. There's Brady Lane on the EAA website who's also videoed his every lesson, I reckon it's a great way to look at how you've performed and that you can learn from that.
Guest ozzie Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 then the question could be put as, Have any instructors used video for improving their teaching skills?
Guest mike_perth Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Oz Well as Brett said I video tape all of my lessons with a camera mounted in the cockpit at eye level (basically behind my head in the centre) looking out the front allowing me to see ASI, AH, and Alt on video as well as the aspect out the front window. I reveiw and critique every landing takeoff and circuit after my lesson and sometimes discuss it with my instructor. I have uploaded some of them to you-tube and now my instructor uses my first solo video as a instructional tool to show students what a normal circuit is supposed to look like as the movie is a full 7 min video from takeoff to landing at Jandakot. If nothing else I reckon my videos are good for me to watch when the weather is bad and Im dying to go flying but cant I can get some virtual cockpit time! Mike
