Captain Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 There was talk of heading over to Echuca to find you, but we couldn't agree on how far it was. When I heard 70 miles I lost interest :-) The Flight Planner on this site says 61.9 Nm .... so we weren't too far out, and men always over-estimate length, so I'm told.
ahlocks Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Great day! Learned heaps!! Google earth is a great tool as part of flight planning . Just don't rely on it for the condition of the destination strip because the sat scans aren't always recent. :raise_eyebrow: One really doesn't need 45 metre wide runways to land on. (gawd, it looked narrow on approach...) A Rotaryaxe can run flat knacker for just under an hour, without buzzing itself to bits. learned while trying to keep up with a diminishing white dot enroute. A camera in a mobile phone makes a pretty good..... Telephone i_dunno And the difference between a Sportstar and a Sportstar Plus is....."More rivets!" according to Le Kaptain's instant reply. - still getting a chuckle from that one. Cheers! P.S I was teaching Child ver2 where to aim for (leading the shot) to hit them plastic varmints...
turboplanner Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Talking about training to lead. At one stage Turbo had a lot of problems with rabbits. As some of you realise the "Horse Whisperer" was a direct steal from Turbo's nickname "Sheep Whisperer", and in time he found he could talk to almost all the animals, and this is the result of one of his training exercises. At one stage he was thinking of offering his little friends to the army because they could run faster, and stank so much the insurgents would be only too happy to get out of the country.
Tomo Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 That's not a bad shot(s)...err...picture there Turbo...
slartibartfast Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Finally got a chance to post these pics. Had a great flight there and back, met some forum members for the first time, and experienced some excellent hospitality from the local club and from Anne and Peter McLean in particular. Even caught up with my uncle unexpectedly. He flew his trike over from Benalla. Cool weekend. Captain Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 Great shots Ross. Thanks for taking and posting them. And nice to finally meet up. See ya in about 5 or 6 days. Regards Geoff
Guest brentc Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 What's the long range forcast for Narromine Captain?
Guest pelorus32 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Cher Slarti, the owner of VH XLS in your shot 30 calls it "the national debt" - a mean machine. Now I think it should be "La tricyclette de mon oncle" non? Au revoir Michelle
Captain Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 What's the long range forcast for Narromine Captain? G'day Brent. It certainly won't be as good as it was at Yarrawonga, (and Ross's pics show it there pretty well). Looks like 24 C on Friday at Narromine, partly cloudy and a bit windyer .... but our Queensland cousins might allow a trough to form up there, so it will all depend on how deep that gets and how far south it comes. At the moment I plan to fly up Thur & back late Sat. How about you? Regards Geoff
slartibartfast Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Yep - Thursday looks the go at the moment - and you're welcome.

Captain Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 Tomo, votre Français est meilleur que votre anglais ! Ah .... the pen of my aunt is in the garden, eh? Oops. Wrong thread. Sorry
slartibartfast Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Ah .... the pen of my aunt is in the garden, eh?Oops. Wrong thread. Sorry Right thread. Tomo said, "I see, so that's what your uncle calls a garden?" coz I said that's where my uncle's trike was.
Captain Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 Right thread. Tomo said, "I see, so that's what your uncle calls a garden?" coz I said that's where my uncle's trike was. I learnt both French & German for 5 years at school and this Forum is the 1st time I have had the chance to use it in OZ .... but it did come in handy to abuse cabbies and their dogs in Paris when trying to get to the George Cinq Hotel.
Tomo Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Tomo, votre Français est meilleur que votre anglais ! Hehe, just don't ask me to speak it... l'inscription de lui est une chose, le parlant est une autre !
