What an awesome day!!! I was booked in for a 10am flight and got there about 30 minutes late but that was ok because so was the Sportcruiser.

As soon as Trevor and his student returned, I did pre-flight and before I knew it, we were away.

It had been 4 weeks since my last flight so I was going through a lot in my head, but staying pretty cool about it.

Right away we departed to the north and climbed to 2000ft having a good chat about things, flying and all. Trevor had some bad news for me and that was his mother-in-law was gravely ill and he was flying back to the UK on Sunday.

I really felt for him, being so far away and not being able to do anything about it just yet.

We continued on and began some steep turns with Trevor showing me first up.

Within about 15 minutes and several turns, I was getting the hang of it and he was pretty happy with the way it was all going.

Then he dropped the throttle to idle and I commenced my engine failure & FCMIT procedures.

Not a hitch! Even I was happy to notice that I handled it pretty well. I really didn't expect it at all in that flight so yeah, that went well.

We began our return to YBUN and then it dawned on me, I have my BAK right after the flight. Crap.

I knocked over 3 circuits and was really happy with my landings given the conditions, light crosswind, about 10kts from the right but a lot of mechanical turbulence because we were on RW25 for the day.

With that done, we set the Sportcruiser up for another student and I then locked myself in the exam room for the next hour and a half and surprisingly I remembered most things.

For anyone doing their BAK, read the questions, relax because there's plenty of time and then read the question again.

I did the PPL BAK and there was a fair bit of emphasis on fuel and mixture, Carburetors and Fuel injection, Spark plug fouling and CG moment and loading.

So with that done in 90 minutes or so I was ready to head out again and go flying....so I did!

I had the training area to myself and what a feeling!! It was just awesome to be.....bumming around on my own. There's no words to describe it but most of you already know what it's like!

All up, 0.9dual and 1.9 solo in the area.

It just gets better and better.

So to date, here's some stats.

Total time - 19.3hrs

Solo time - 4.5hrs

Cost - $3415

(including BAK manual, Logbook and some charts)

All up to go, precautionary search and landing and flight test plus 30 minutes of solo time.

Not bad, I'm pretty proud of myself so far!

Thanks guys, yeah it was so good to get back in the air again and no better way of doing it! I'm really looking forward to doing my cross country endorsement soon so I'll try and get the last few flights out of the way in the next few weeks.

It was such a nice day for it to. I'll get some photos up!
