Windsock mechanism

G'day Aviators,

 

I'm looking to obtain a frame structure and mechanism for a wind sock probably by fabricating one myself. Does anyone have dimensions for the standard windsock and have ideas on the mechanism/bearing to use? What about height above the ground? This will be just a private small strip so other ideas (not standard) for windsocks would be welcome as well.

I don't have dimesions here, but if you are going to Narromine, there are a couple of vendors that usually have the frames for sale.

 

You could buy one there (not too dear from memory & galvanised too), or measure them up, or one of us could knock up a sketch for you.

I might be able to find out for you, as a mate of mine made a few (he's a seamster/canvas products guy) for the army a few years ago..

 

Il only post if i can get the details.It was a long time ago that he did the job, and he may have lost the measurements.
