Captain Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Mudgee Airshow @ Wings Wheels and Wine April 18th? Is anyone planning on going?
Guest AnGrobler Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I'd LOVE to go :) How far 'cross country' is Mudgee from Bright? My instructor mentioned that we might go to an air show soon, but I'm not sure if this is the one he was referring to...

Guest Ruprect Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Anyone got a link for more info? I like Mudgee
Captain Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Anyone got a link for more info? I like Mudgee There is a link in the Events section of this site. See what you think.

My instructor mentioned that we might go to an air show soon, but I'm not sure if this is the one he was referring to... If Mudgee is a bit far ... and it probably is in a trike, you should perhaps consider one of the Temora Flying Days or the AAAA Event @ Echuca on the Anzac weekend .... all with links in the Events section of this site. Hope that helps. Regards Geoff
Guest AnGrobler Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Thanks Geoff Yes I also think it might be a bit too far... especially for a trike trainee :) I was just taking a look at the Events section (very helpful I might add) and he might have been referring to the Echuca one, it's much closer. Cheers An
slartibartfast Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Geoff has bravely volunteered to be our events coordinator rat, so let's all give him a huge applause and a piece of cheese. Thanks Geoff. We'll never be surprised by an event again - only by whether the weather let's us get home or not. As for Mudgee - I'm hoping to because it's a great event. Not sure if I can generate the brownie points for it though. Natfly this weekend, Mudgee next weekend, and Echuca the one after might be a stretch.

"Strong & Bity" tasty type (Bega Valley) is preferred. Regards "The Drainpipe Rodent" PS ... You offer to help out and look what you get as a result. A derogatory name from slartifartblast and a "mouthful of abuse" (with aplogies to Billy Connolly) from the turbopiddler.

slartibartfast Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I took a chance on going into brownie points deficit. I'll be there tomorrow. Anyone else?
Captain Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 I took a chance on going into brownie points deficit. I'll be there tomorrow.Anyone else? I'm going. Flightplan says will arrive about 9 am. Will return tomorrow night straight after the Airshow. Are you overnighting Ross, or going back tomorrow arvo? Regards Geoff
slartibartfast Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Straight back Geoff. Got a birthday party to go to. Arrival time depends on when the usual Goulburn fog lets me out. See you there.
Mick Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I took a chance on going into brownie points deficit.Anyone else? Does any flyer ever get to have a surplus of brownie points??????;)
Captain Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Great weather, good event, good flying, good crowd, good fun: Slarti's arrival - Slarti, crouched down behind a plane, pulling ....... MrH Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Looks like it was a good day:thumb_up: Thanks for sharing your photos - keeps those of us who can't make it happy:big_grin: New Tecnam looks very swish:cool: Cheers H
Captain Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 New Tecnam looks very swish:cool: H That Tecnam Eaglet departed Wagga a mile or so behind me and probably only lost 4 or 5 Nm's to my 230 over the entire 189 Nm trip, and he was 2 up. So they get along well, too. Regards G
Tomo Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Yes, Great pics Captain... (or the "Rat") What on earth is that plane that looks like its missing a front wheel, and tail wing... VH-COZ... and has a pusher type engine? down toward the bottom of the pics.
Guest brentc Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I haven't seen the KIS for a while (VH-AIG), it must have moved north, seems to be based in NSW now, used to be a regular site in Vic.

Thanks Brent. I was going to look it up in the registery, as that vs/rudder combination is very distinctive (and small). Tomo .. i think COZ is a Vari-Eze but am yet to check. That is how you park them, with the nose wheel retracted, as they are slightly rear heavy with the passengers out. Are you going to post some of your pics Ross?

slartibartfast Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I think you'll find that's a Cozy Tomo - hence the rego. They are a derivative of Burt Rutan's Vari-Eze and Long-Eze. Sorry Geoff, haven't had time until now. That was a really good day. Well done Mudgee guys. Garry Morgan couldn't turn up (someone said he dropped the trailer on his foot while leaving Narromine - I haven't talked to him all week), so I put mine on display and talked to a lot of people, and watched anxiously as a thousand children poked and fingered the fabric and turned the prop. Hard to catch them all, but it flew home well, so must be alright. I ran out of brochures too - it was very popular. Much thanks to Geoff for watching it while I went for a bite. Most of these photos are from the thumbnail image - I haven't converted the raw images yet. The sound of this Grumman Avenger was absolutely awesome. I love big radials. There were people all over the Cheetah. The Captain we all know and love admiring the Avenger as it dwarfs his Jab Pitts special doing its thing I didn't have the shutter speed right unfortunately, but still worth a look as the Pitts cuts the ribbon. After the announcer played it up for a while (can the owner of Volvo ABC321 please move your car!) this heli picked up the Volvo and dropped it from a great height - much to the appreciation of the crowd. I missed shooting it though. There's a pic later of the remains. Paul Andronicou gave another great display. He considered giving the game away after Tom and Pip went in. He's back into it though, and came second again at the recent championships. He lost to a Pitt's much to his annoyance. Maybe the prettiest Jab I've seen (like putting lipstick on a pig?) The R44 was kept busy giving rides all day. There were a lot of interesting cars. The remains of the gay (Volvo moved after parking on the airfield) A monster truck Or two Just for interest - lots of food and wine And some cool bikes. Lots of traffic in the morning, and all fitted well together. Someone told me my landing was the best for the morning. I must be improving. Great to catch up with Geoff - looks like I won't see you on the weekend after all. The Echuca curse looks like striking again. Organize an aviation event there, and you're guaranteed to have rain. Thanks again to the Mudgee WW&W organizers. I'll be back.
MrH Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Hey Slarti - love the pitts photos with the smoke. Quite artistic:star: H
