Guest Dru Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hi everyone, Dru here, having just joined. I crossed over from GA some months back and am having a ball. Looking to make friends, get info and understand the brand. Cheers to you all. Dru:cool:
farri Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 G`Day Dru and , Having come from GA,what type of recreational AC do you prefer? Cheers, Frank.
Guest Dru Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Thanks Much appreciate the reply, Frank. I am a pretty new pilot. I learnt in 152 & 172 with Bob harris in Innisfail some four years back. With GA I also rented a Piper Tomahawk which was fun, but tended to get a bit blown around. I have not had much experience with U/L having only recently crossed the divide, but have flown a little Jabiru and a Savannah. I found that the Savannah just wanted to stay up there and the little Jab was a gem. I have no preferences or prejudices for type, only a love to fly and never seem to get enough. That's probably because I don't! What do you fly and where are you based? Dru
farri Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Dru, Bob Harris,The legend, you were taught by the best. I`ve known Bob for a long time,he and I played guitar in pop bands together way back in our teens,40 more years ago and he was the best man at the wedding of my wife and I,43 years ago. I`ve been flying for 25 years and when I started, GA was out of my reach, financially,I didn`t want to go commercial so I decided that for the cost of a GA licence I could build my own U/L aircraft and afford to fly it,so I did,I built a copy of a Chinook WT2,a few of us got together and formed,"The Far North Queensland Ultralight Association",and started the Ultralight movement up here. I`ve flown Quite a few different types,to name a few, the Wheeler Scout,CFM Shadow,Quick Silver MX, Drifter on floats, quite a few HRS in the Zenith 701 and the Austflight WB Maxair Drifter that I`ve owned for 22 years and instructed with, there`s more but it doesn`t matter. I fly from our property at Deeral,45k south of Cairns and it`s about 22 NM north of Innisfail aerodrome,if you take a look at my blog on member`s blogs, you will see it. Cheers, Frank.
