I did some quick research on Sennheiser, when i purchased my headsets, Nobody seemed to have much too say in Australia about them. Go figure! They are awesome for muscians, I have a set of hd251 headsets, i use them to listen to music when i play the drums. You can hardly hear the drums of the music blasting away. I ended up getting Zulu 20xlc.

You can read customer reviews on lots of headsets here:

LightSPEED 20XLc ANR Headset - MyPilotStore.com

And thats the link for my headset...

G'day Des,

I'm just in the process of doing a review on the Recreational flying/Clear Prop (that's this site's pilot shop and funds the site) ANR Headset.

I should have a review early next week. Ian can update you on price but it should be very competitive.

Regards

Mike

The Recreational Flying 1000 ANR Headset is still several months away as after Mike has done a review we will take one over to an Avionics technician to pull apart and provide a written report on anything they think could be improved as these will have a full 5 year clean swap warranty.

Once we get the Tech's report we will go back to our manufacturer with any recommendations (if any) and get them to change our requirements to suit but at this stage we are looking at a mere $399 for a full ANR headset.

I have a set of these and have had to relegate them to the passengers set. From day one they produced feedback squeal on PTT. I had a technician familiar with them take a look however he could not come up with anything to solve the problem. The reason I couldn't send them back was they worked fine in another aircraft I tried and as the tech said they test fine. Interestingly I've noticed that I don't get the feedback if the voltage is down a bit as in before starting engine. I look forward to Clear Props new addition down the track.Cheers

You may wan't to fit a Ferrite Rod conductor things around your com wire on the aircraft... Available at most electronic places, Ie. Dick Smiths

Also It could have something to do with the alternator on the aircraft (electronic feed back). If it only does it when the engine is running, I can nearly guarantee you that's what it is...

Have not heard much good about the HME-95 when I was researching. I ended up getting the HME-100 (on a trip to Europe, for a whole lot less dough than here at the time) and they are great. Much lighter than "standard" DC 13.4 and sound much better. Apparently, I sound great on them too. Only downside is that the gel seals on DC are better, you really need very thin sunglass arms not to break the seal on the Sennheisers.
