brilin_air Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hey Tomo, you've got the drifter screwed up in that pic, must play havoc working out your fuel burn for navs, lol Brian
Tomo Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Yeah... you got to get the compass heading right first off, or else you'll end up all over the place... BTW: it only takes about 15mins to fly from Brisy to Sydney! And: rate of climb is only a mere 26,000ft a min! Top speed of 2,655klm and hour! Also I had a bit of trouble trying to get RAA to register it as a Recreational airplane, because the MTOW is 45,300kgs! You don't really want to stand behind when doing the run ups as well, because there's 50,200lb of thrust being pushed out the back...
Guest ozzie Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Gee Ozzie! I think it want's to get out!! future taildragger driver, thats a full bootfull of left rudder!
Deskpilot Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Fire-lighters A variation on a theme by Tomo. Taken at RAAF Edinburgh a few years back.
slartibartfast Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 May competition closed That's it for our first month. I'll get Angela, the Pacific Flyer editor, to judge all the entries (except mine) and announce a winner. There's a new thread for June, so if you don't win this time, get an entry in there. I moved 3 posts from this thread to the new June competition thread, because they were made in June and I was a bit slow getting it started.
pudestcon Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 And the winner is...?? Has the winner been announced yet?
slartibartfast Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 I forgot to email Angela until last Thursday. I expect she will be onto it tomorrow.
slartibartfast Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 Angela got back to me asking how to post the winner - she's a forum newbie apparently. I would expect her to work out how to announce it very soon. Sounded like she had already decided.
Guest pacificflyer Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Pacific Flyer Magazine's Photo Competition Winner! Thank you to all who entered in Pacific Flyer's first photo competition in May. Great job everyone. Choosing is difficult but we have decided ... The winner is Skydog - checkmate:clap: Runners up Ahlocks - cockpit shot & Pudestcon with the balloon shot. Special mention to Ozzie for his photos which helped kick the competition off. Would the above mentioned please send a higher resolution photo to us at [email protected] to be published in the August edition.
skydog Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Thanks Thanks guys, I am surprised though coz thought I had other better shots than that plus your stuff too? Obviously I can not win again next month but will keep on entering and I am very impressed by the standard of photos. Ian / Slarti how about a Rec Flying calendar?
Admin Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Ian / Slarti how about a Rec Flying calendar? YES, can do but it would have to be a paid for one
skydog Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Absolutely. You could get sponsership too maybe. Help support the site type of marketing programme with your exposure to many flyers. Need to ensure there are plenty of subscribers picies in it as well to boost sales. You have heaps on this site. 3000 site members 300 sales at $19.50= $5850.00 Rec Fly takes say profit of $4 per each? = $1200. Photos ideally should be inspirational to encourage other people to fly. Dreamlike to reinforce why we do fly.(balloon shot) Calendar should be useful with dates of meets, fly ins, CASA mtgs, Oshkosh & wanaka dates, your birthday etc etc etc . Air services australia Sartime info perhaps. Cheers.
