Guest Lambie Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Hi Folks Its been a while since I've been up in the air. I've spent quite a bit of time in gliders (Kooka, K7, IS28, Club Libelle, Blanik, Puchaz, Astir- home airfield Leeton ) and then the family thing brought it all back to ground (last log book entry late 1993 - ouch!!). Been into the sailing as a fall back for the last 15 years but have finally got the bum back into the seat. Now based out of West Sale in Gippsland and are trying to convert to the Rec. Aircraft category (a fan on the front - who'd ever thought of that??). I've now done few hrs and hope to knock over the Solo thing soon and then work up to cross country (again !!- done more than 300km in a flight without a fan attached - in the gliders!!). Currently flying in a Jabiru - nice aircraft ! I'm really looking froward to getting out and about around Gippsland - and then who knows ?? Thanks for the invitation to introduce myself and I am looking forward to catching up with other RA people on an airfield somewhere soon . Cheers, Gavan PS anyone from Leeton GC still out there some where??
Guest Decca Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Pilot Officer Gavan welcome to this site. You've probably flown more kilometeres in a glider than I have in a Gazelle. I have 7 hours & mostly in the circuit. Come see us in Ballarat once you are endorsed on cross country. Regards, Decca. PS Sorry I don't know Leeton.
BigPete Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Welcome Gavin. Now be good and don't be tempted to turn off the fan. :ah_oh: Otherwise you'll find how good a glider the Jabiru isn't! thumb_down (compared to what you're used to). regards :big_grin:
Guest Lambie Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Hi there Thanks for the mesages - BTW (re gliding experience) I have no intention of turning off the fan !! - yes its scary the attitude needed to keep safe flying speed without it !! Managed to meet my solo goal last Saturday - so now its the big push to get through the rest of the stepping stones - any hints?? (goals are pasenger rated, cross country - flying to start with out of a controlled airspace strip - other goals that I should/could be considering?). Cheers, Lambie
