Guest basscheffers Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 $85K seems a bit much for a 2800 hour aircraft with not too much to go on the Rotax. Maybe that is just wishful thinking and are willing to bargain! There usually are one or two of those on the market of the same age but privately owned with hours in the hundreds, if that. I just bought a 700 hr one for $90K + GST. (It will be used for training at Parafield)
LEJ Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 I suppose another question were to be if the number of syndicate members were reduced, would this be a better option?
Guest basscheffers Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Probably easier to get 4-5 that eight people. But remember the fixed cost (hangerage, insurance) will also be shared over less people, so it will turn out a little higher. But if you buy a cheaper plane, insurance will be lower so that does offset it a bit. The 3rd party we have with RA-Aus is probably all you need, so that leaves hull, which will probably set you back about 2500-3000 a year for a $90K aircraft.
Guest drizzt1978 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I suppose another question were to be if the number of syndicate members were reduced, would this be a better option? I personally prefer the idea of less people, Less hours on the airframe (perhaps) And less chance of a double booking!! Michael
LEJ Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 I would prefer syndicating with less people but the question is will this deter people from joining a syndicating for a given aircraft like the SportStar? The plane procurement and the ongoing costs will be a lot higher .
