Guest Petercam Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Hello, I am Peter Hardy from Glenelg in SA. I took my first instructional flight today in a SportStar at Aldinga. Been meaning to do this for approx 25 years and finally took the jump. Long way to go but should be enjoyable. If you have a good web site for a glossary of terms with pictures please let me know. Regards, Peter
Tomo Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 G'day and Welcome Along Peter... The Sportstar is a nice aircraft apparently, I've heard that they handle pretty well, so good on you for getting in there:clap: Not as bad as you thought Hey.... Just what sort of pictures and glossary of terms were you looking for? If you go to the photo gallery in the control panel to the left, you'll find a large range of stuff there for you.... there's even an aviation terms section:thumb_up: Have Fun, and Fly Safe:big_grin:
Guest Petercam Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Thanks Tomo, Yes it was pretty easy but i didn't do much as you would expect first time. i am looking for a basic description of a plane just to get me going. the instructor talked about the parts and what they do but would like to see them so i can visualise what they are doing. the glossary would be for things like IFR, IMC, ab-initio, VFR etc. i guess i will get to know all this as i learn more so i should be patient. i have started looking at CASA and RA-Aus (there's two more!) web sites. plenty to digest. Peter
Tomo Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Not real sure how this will turn out, and you'll probably already have this maybe if you have any books. But thought it may help out a bit...
Guest Petercam Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Thanks Tomo, a bit small but still readable. Peter
skeptic36 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Thanks Tomo,a bit small but still readable. Peter Hi Peter, If you save the image to your computer, then right click on it, then edit, you can magnify it a bit without losing too much quality. Regards Bill
Renaissance Man Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hi Peter, welcome. This is a good page for cockpit layout info: The Instrument Panel of a Cessna 152 (It links to a pretty good story too, young Swiss bloke flies across US in a 152!) Chris.
Tomo Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Thanks Tomo,a bit small but still readable. Peter Know worrys:thumb_up: Yeah sorry about the smallness, but I had to do something otherwise it would be way to big of a download for some people....
