BLA82 Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Jabiru turbo engine walk around and running with "draw through" with carb. I will try a Aerocarb 45mm. --- Watch Now!
runt Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 how many horsies will you get ?, and will you change the prop? and to what?
Tomo Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Standard TBO? Can't imagine... I guess it could be handy if you were flying in the tropics i_dunno
Guest Maj Millard Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Boy, Just can't wait to see how this goes. Hope they've strengthened those thru bolts or it could end up being quite spectacular !...................................................................
dazza 38 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Im thinking the same Major, IMO, you can just put a turbo on a engine, and expect it to be reliable. Without doing the research.Cheers
facthunter Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Turbo effects. Any kind of supercharging is usually done by lowering the compression ratio first, and most other things are left standard. (Valve timing etc.)There is much more heat to get rid of, but the engine itself does not strengthening as the peak pressures are usually less than with a high compression set-up as the greater charge density gives a more sustained push . Athough it is claimed that the turbo gives the supercharging effect "free", you get nothing free, and the exhaust valves will get much hotter, as well as the piston crowns and heads. because of the extra power produced. 1 Bar of boost will almost double the power output in theory. Good luck. Nev
