Guest cossy Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Gy-day /evening,to one and all, which ever applies.. I'm brand new to rec flying, (So be gentle,,,,LOL) So new in fact I haven't even flown yet. Recently I tried to fullfill my boyhood dream to learn to fly, or go for for a fly around to get the feel of flight,, and visited my local airstrip, ( Bindoon 70 klms away) As luck would have it (or lack off) they were having a busy bee pouring concrete for a new pad to house a gyro,,,,,,, sometimes I think if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. I met and introducd myself to the President Adrain, and members of the Bindoon club, a lot of information was exchanged, mostly by Adrain to me... (mind bogaling) And a test flight to scare the living bejesus out of me didn't quite happen that day, I was made most welcome by everyone there, and after a short chat the pour began, so I was invited to take a self administered tour of the facilites, and look around. The amount of hangers, fixed wings, gyros, on site was very impressive to say the least, As the club meets 2nd Sunday of the month, and due to work commitments (shift work, mine), bad weather etc, I havent had the pleasure to experience the joy of flight to this date, but I am really looking forward to it. hoping the weather is better suited in June. I'll keep in touch if I haven't had a coronary after my first flight best wishes and good luck to me as I'm sure I'll need it...... Cossy:rotary:
Tomo Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Good morning Cozzy, (well it's probably nearly smoko time over there ain't it!). I can pretty much assure you, you won't have any coronary problems on your trial flight! (smoking causes it, so if you smoke, just leave it for about a week before your flight, and you should be right!!) There's a few nice fella's on here that are flying out of Bindoon, and they'll show there heads soon no doubt, so you can get some first hand advice from them about what there like over there... Have Fun, and I hope you get your flight soon, (just a warning though! once you do it, you'll be hooked!) Ps. Welcome to this great place too...
Guest mike_perth Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hi Cozzy and welcome to another West Aussie you'll find a couple of us sandgropers on here and I also think another recently joined memeber who also fly's as Im sure you soon will out of Bindoon. Enjoy the first flight when you finally get to have it and dont worry you wont forget it! But just be careful like an addictive drug the first hit is free.....well it wont be but its likely to be just as addictive! Mike
skeptic36 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Good morning Cozzy, (well it's probably nearly smoko time over there ain't it!). Tomo, Thats two things you have back to front 1) They are behind us in W.A 2) You think Drifters look better than Trikes mate I just couldn't resist Regards Bill
Guest mike_perth Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Nah he was right we are so far behind we are still in yesterday! Especially now with the lack of daylight savings!!
mAgNeToDrOp Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Welcome Cossy - don't worry you won't get a coronary - just big fat stupid grin and a craving for more ;)
Tomo Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Tomo,Thats two things you have back to front 1) They are behind us in W.A 2) You think Drifters look better than Trikes mate I just couldn't resist Nah your all right, I can't remember what there times system is at all now, (you've got me confused!!) When I flew over there recently, I thought they where, Oh yeah... it's an hour behind ain't it? not forward!... and I forgot all about this daylight savings thingy! But all the same, you do have to feel sorry for them, being so behind and that!
Guest cossy Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Thanks Tomo, one can only hope so, looking forward to it in a couple of weeks weather permitting Cossy
Guest cossy Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Gy-day one and all, many thanks for all the good wishes, Well to-day I had my 1st flight, and in a ultra light, (believe it or not) and what a blast, the take off was pretty much what I had expected, but as we climbed and started to turn I had this unnerving feeling we were just hanging in mid air, going nowhere,,,,,,,,,, just hanging there,!!!! sure had the bejesus working overtime for a short while, a couple of quick pics (just in case we did fall from grace so the boss could at least see what I was up to), We flew around the area for about an hr or 2, practiced a couple of controlled stalls, it was amazing just what a little engine and plane could do, I would like to thank to Paul, for giving me the opportunity to fly with him, (as well as feeding me lunch), the weather was perfect (but what else would you expect we live in PERTH WA) LOL, (and it's supposed to be winter) It just doesn't get any better than this,,,,,,, or does it ????? I hope to be at Bindoon sunday week, and maybe some Gyro pilots will be there and I can take the next step forward, so if anyone is going to be there it would be great to meet and speak to you, i still have a lot of questions to ask. fly safe stay safe .....................Cossy
Tomo Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Awesome Cossy! great ain't it? It just doesn't get any better than this,,,,,,, or does it ????? I'm afraid it does mate! Just wait until you can do it yourself! It's the most unreal feeling when your cruising around all on your own:thumb_up: Keep it up:thumb_up:
