Guest brentc Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Can anyone confirm that you definitely need a permit for one of those fabric dome hangar things on an airfield? I know of a private island where people are living in tin sheds but because they have strings attached to them on the corners they are considered to be tents. Was wondering if such a loophole or similar is valid for the dome hangars.
Guest bateo Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Brentc, It often depends on the authority in charge of the aerodrome. Many of those private island strips/aerodrome facilities are often privately owned and operated, therefore finding such loopholes can be somewhat easier. I know for a fact that with most Council operated aerodromes, that approval is needed for any type of infrustructure built within the vicinity of the airport.
Guest brentc Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 That's what I'm led to believe - any infrastructure requiring a permit, but just wondering if anyone knew of a loophole like the tent scenario.
Guest brentc Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Suck it and see I guess AND go to jail. No thanks!
Guest ozzie Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 A few stories have popped up from time to time about councils insisting on those portable car ports that look a bit like a tent be removed. made of shade cloth & tube frame. they can't jail you just drag you into court and then fine the crap out of you and hit you with costs. If you ignore this then the sherrife gets involved. just ring them up and have a talk to them about temporary structures. maybe that is where you find your loophole. what's the problem anyway. don't want to enter a lease or lodge a building application. Tracktop Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 If your council has a web site try looking there or asking if they have an exempt development list/checklist/document - mine does and it is 17 pages long.
