wokbat1954 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Well people, after reading all these posts I am happy to report that the procrastination is ended. Thanks to you all for helping us both to reach our descision. Firstly, my Son Toby came to me earlier this year with the idea of building a second aircraft. Our first project "Woks Wocket" ( derivative of the TEAM MiniMax 1600R) has been flying now for 14 years and, being a single seat, we can only fly separately. Toby has been researching our next project for the past 8 months and like you all trying to get the best bang for the buck. We narrowed it down to an American Import and Morgan Aeroworks Sierra 100. After taking in everything written on this site, and reading as much as we could, we decided to travel from Melbourne to Taree and have a look first hand at the Sierra. This, of course, after talking at length to Gary and making arrangements. Following a drive in excess of 14 hours, $350.oo for a new alternator for the car and rain like you wouldnt believe, it took both of us approximately 2 hours to make a descision to purchase a kit. Why so long? Well we both had to have a fly in the demo model and neither of us wanted to get out. Both Low time Pilots but the aircraft flys so smoothly and comfortably it seems to be easy to convert into when we are both ready. The discussions around the purchase revolved mainly around what extras or upgrades were available and of course the cost of same, along with the possibility of having the design changed slightly to allow for a Taildragger configuration. With all the details out of the way we received word this week that the kit is ready to be picked up. So folks, progress will start on the Cheetah "Strike" very soon and we will keep you posted as to the progress ;) Thanx again for all your posts.
kth_logan Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Update time Guys, How has the build gone...? Is the plane airborne now...? 400 hrs is quoted...as build time, was that realistic?
wokbat1954 Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 Hey Keith, Progress is slow at the moment. Fuse is built and sheeted, currently working on the Fin / rudder. Wings are ready for covering up. Tailplane the same. Blg will be updatd as soon as possible but it looks like the 400 Hrs is a realistic figure provided you can organise yourself properly.
kth_logan Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Update Thanks for the update will be keen to see the blog and some more recent pictures.
