I see viewing the Italian site of the Savannah aircraft they appear to have their new STOL winged aircraft ready for production...

 

Interesting figures they are giving on the aircraft.

Stall speed = 90 kmh / 56 mph / 49 kts

 

Cruise speed = 185 kmh / 115 mph / 100 kts

 

Max speed = 209 kmh / 130 mph / 113 kts

 

STOL performances

 

Stall speed = 55 kmh / 34 mph / 29.5 kts

 

Take off distance = 35 mt / 110 feet

 

Climb rate = 1200 feet/min at 96 kmh / 60 mph / 52 kts

i have been keeping an eye on this aircraft, seams to have everything i want in an aircraft, aparently it will be at Norromine this year with the new wing. though i was hopeing to test fly one of the standard wing.

 

I was reading the website of the CH 701, about the Savannah, and its problem with the Strut cracking, is this been fixed yet? though i do find it ironic about Chris heinzt having a go at the savannah being an Inferior copy considering what he did with the Cri cri, that he copied, modified and sold as his own, yet more ironically when the mods he made proved fatal. that one was called the Cricket.

 

If the Savannah suits my needs it will most likely be the next in the hangar.

G'day 'Utlralights', as I will not be able to attend this years Natfly due again for work commitments.

 

If the new Savannah is at the field would it be possible to take some close-up photos of the new wing, etc and post them on this site. Like yourself I have a serious interset in this new version if it's all up-to-spec as earlier reports state... Many thanks.

What sort of photos of the wing are you after ? Technical shots of the control surfaces ? General layout shots ?

 

For that matter, how much is a reasonable amount to post here ?

according to the pilot, the stated numbers are pretty accurate, but the

 

extra cost is a big deterrent for me, i will probably explor this

 

option,

 

Removing the leading edge slat alltogether, and installing Vortex Generators on the Leading edge...

G'day Smokey, many thanks for the photos...

 

I'll get back to you as to if I needed the originals. Would be interested to hear as to what opinion is on this aircraft as from the specs the performance appears quite good.

I have a Savannah Adv in a 40 ft container somewhere between the factory in Italy and the Big Island of Hawaii. It was just shipped last week so will probably take a couple of month. I am waiting....

just a stupid quick question on the Savannah, although i have bene looking closely at this aircraft and will purchase a kit ASAP, i forget to check weather the Flaps operate over the full span of the wing or just the inner sections??

 

in other words, do the Ailerons become flaperons when flap is lowered?

 

and another more out there question, would reflex flap improve cruise speed as it does in conventional wing/flap setups?? would a say -10 deg flap position provide any cruise advantage?

Ultralights

 

If you have a look at myphotos above you'll see a couple of shots with the flap down but the aileron neutral. So I would assume they are independant. One shot has a bit of droop on the aileron but judging from the others I think the stick was over.

 

Whether you could link the ailerons as flaperons I don't know. Afraid I was just grabbing some photos for Rodger, I wasn't talking to the vendors.

I posted a while back. Well my Savannah ADV finally got here. Eric from Skykits in Calgary Alberta Canada came all the way over to the Big Island of Hawaii todeliver it. He and his trusty helper Bruce did and excellent job of putting the wings on and getting all the FAA trapings out of the way. It flies just great. Everything is just as they say. You can see a picture of it on the Skykits web page. It is the one in the rain getting the Hawaiian blessing. So far the gods and the plane have been good to me.
