Geoff Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 On the 3rd May 3 ultralite aircraft a J160 Geoff & Geoff a Kingfisher Doug & Jon a Sinus Keith & Trish and one C172 Paul& Bruce left on a trip from Mildura to Thursday Island. Sunday Mildura to Cobar and on to Lightning Ridge for the night. Monday 4th St George for fuel and on to Emerald rough day for the glider stayed for the night. Tuesday on to Charters Towers for fuel then up in the table lands to Mareeba for the night. Finding Mareeba strip was fun, was right over the top before I could see it. Wednesday had to fly 1500 ft( low clouds) in the valleys to Coen for fuel then no higher than 2000ft more low cloud and light rain up to Horn Inland. Thursday day fishing, Friday due to a flat tire:laugh: we deiced to stay till Monday and go fishing again, hard to take. Monday big day flying around the rain showers down to Weipa , Normanton staying at Cloncrurry for the night. Tuesday, Boulia for a look at the min min display, then off to Bedouire overnight. Wednesday down to Birdsville for fuel and on to the mouth of the Copper river with a lunch stop at Marree and over to Arkeroola for our last night. Home on Thursday it was a great trip one I will always remember as going up the pointy bit. And for all the Jabiru boys this 2.2 has 952hr up now and still going strong. Cheers Geoff
