Simonflyer Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Considering the popularity of a post with a strangely similar title to this one, i thought i would ask the question-why do so many of us like the Tecnam.. I would be suprised if this post even got one or two postings, because when you have access to any piece of tecnology that is as far superior to its competitors as the Tecnam is, you rarely if ever feel the need to bleat on about it, but just for the hell of it here's your chance! Is it the reliability of the Rotax, the aerodynamic stability, or its astounding all round performance. Maybe its just its good looks.. Up to you. Enjoy 1
ahlocks Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Oohh! :ah_oh:.... This is gunna end in tears...
Guest drizzt1978 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 :black_eye: Its the over priced plane that I love. :black_eye:
Guest Ken deVos Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Apart from the high cost, typical of European designs, the Tecnam aircraft has poor endurance and no boot space. These are a must for Australian conditions. Of some concern though, is the low Vfe of 60knt. Yes it does have a low stall speed to match, but then what is the gust tolerance? It's not pleasant always having to come in at 55knts!
facthunter Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Comment. a bit more attention to corrosion proofing wouldn't go astray either. N.
BigPete Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 What's a Tecnams pilots favourite way of passing time Why - counting loose rivets of course. :black_eye: (Flame suit on):big_grin: (Hey, if ya can't take it, don't dish it out in the first place!) regards :big_grin:
ahlocks Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 (Hey, if ya can't take it, don't dish it out in the first place!) ....Don't start!! ============= (very obscure dig at Tecnams AND Jabs....)
Guest Orion Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Hell hath no fury like a Jabiru driver scorned !
ahlocks Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Hell hath no fury like a Jabiru driver scorned ! That's why they make the best sport!;) Just had a look at who's viewing what.....got a feeling that this will be a fun topic! Cheers!
Guest Orion Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I know and ain't it pretty to watch. come on the rest of you Jab drivers hook in you know you want to. as the good lord said "and on the eigth day god made the Jabiru and god looked upon the plane he had made woe betide to anyone who maketh disparaging remarks about my plane for i will smite thee with wrathful vengence"
Guest brentc Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Perhaps someone can further elaborate on the 'astounding performance' quoted in the opening post?
Guest Orion Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 ahlocks It didn't take long. They bite better than fish in a feeding frenzy
ahlocks Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 .. elaborate on the 'astounding performance' quoted in the opening post? Ummm,....astounded that it's only non essential rivets that rattle out during taxi??
BigPete Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Now ya talkin' regards :big_grin:
Relfy Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 and just think, if I win the lotto jackpot tonight I can put a deposit on a Technam...

Guest brentc Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Careful Mr AHLOCKS, your aircraft is far closer to a Tecnam than a Jabiru being metal and Rotax powered, you might be here under false pretences. Tread carefully.
Jabiru Phil Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I flew in company with some GA planes and a Technam around the top end of OZ. Burketown,Broome, Alice etc. (42 hours) It performed well and could nearly keep up with the 230. Solo pilot and no weight (small guy) I was suitably impressed, bar for the need for extra fuel stops for him. Saw Grame Boatman do some incredible short take offs and landings at Cummins air show. Aussie dollar makes them out of reach of most. Spares will need to improve delivery time I am told. Perhaps a comment here from owners!

Guest Orion Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 yep told you nothing quite like a jabiru driver scorned. 21 posts in 6 hours is nothing. not all the usual suspects have raised their heads yet.
Guest Ken deVos Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 snip... not all the usual suspects have raised their heads yet. The funny thing is... None of the Tecnam enthusiasts have come out to espouse the answer to SimonFlyer's original question
BigPete Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Maybe both of them are still counting loose rivets......... regards :big_grin:
