I don't want to re-invent the wheel, but I am *NEAR* finishing a little project on which I have been working for a long time.

It is a cross country planner.

It needs EXCEL to work, and knows most/all the standard Australian airports/intersectins/etc.

The user can enter points too, and one idea which I may adopt is for the user to make a table of their points so they can be referenced directly instead of lat/long.

Stay tuned if interested.

Nice.

I did it because I have done the cross country course. I was interested but didn't like doing the maths over and over.

Not so much lazy, but just doing things over and over becomes annoying.

Mine is "similar" but different. ;) Just though I would mention it.

I may upload it when I am confident enough to do so.

OK folks, FWIW, it is uploaded.

Don't ask me where though. ;)

Oh one other "problem" is when it prints the flight plane track, it has a grey background.

I shall be fixing that in the next relase.

It is in the "Downloads" section of the site 011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif

and on behalf of everyone here - THANKS MATE!

If you feel like it, take it for a spin and let me know your thoughts.

I am sure there will be "bugs" and "I don't like this/that/the other" but I made it as best I could with what I knew at the time.

Though the fuel layout is a BIT confusing - to some - it is the original layout I was shown. Since that is what I learnt, I thought I would stick with it.

Still unable to get into the Downloads section, anyone else having problems with it?

I think it is ok for me.

Hang on....

Na, seems ok. Left menu. Downloads works for me.

I have just fixed it up - man security is so tight around here :bad computer:

This looks pretty good, I'll play around with it at work today.

Brett,

The actual "Bigger picture" of it works, it is just I tried to get too smart for myself and added a bit of extra fuel deduction if/when you mark an airport for landing/refueling.

It isn't a good idea I now notice.

In the "comments" column, you can put things like: Land or refuel and the sheet will mark these and give you flying times from the last place to there - I hope.

I'd better shut up here as I would like a bit of a detatched view on how it is "documented" and layed out.

Hi flying Dog,

I am having issues downloading your file????

It wants to download it as a RAR type file, my Excel will not recognize it as a down loadable file any ideas???

Bob.

Bob,

Download it as is. I don't know why it wants to use RAR, but I'll get to that.

It would seem I could not uplod the actual file. I guess there are security reasons why.

Subsequently I "zipped" it. Then I could upload it.

If your machine wants to use RAR that is fine. Simply un-pack it (Do you know how to use winzip or RAR?)

From there, you load it into EXCEL.

Good luck.

Hi flying dog,

the file keeps coming up as a corrupt header, tried RAR and Winzip both give same result?????

Yes will be at The Oaks in a couple of weeks, you will recognise me, I,m the one with the spade to get out of the hole when i land, ha,ha.

Have been busy getting my left foot fixed and clearing out my shed to build an X-Air in.

Bob.

Just tried it and it works OK

Had to change the extension to .zip to get my unzipper to work on it though

Doesn't find the airport data base on Open Office ( free) but ok in xl

Hi Tracktop,

I did that and still get a header error, i tried downloading the file about six times and all had the same errors, the only thing i can think of is i have a hardware firewall fitted here and that maybe causing the issue, although i have downloaded before without a problem so not sure?????

might leave it for a bit as clearing the shed has priority now ready for the start of building an X-air.

Tracktop,

That's strange.

So you type in YHOX (for instance) in the first line of the main entry page and it doesn't find it.

Hmmm....

Starnge.

I just downloaded it and it works.

There may be something wrong with how your ZIP is set up or works.

Not sure.

Errr, sorry about that folks.

Doesn't seem to want to upload.

It is also strange that the original one ZIPPed to 1.? Meg. The new one is 3.5 Meg.

Dunno why.

The "original" file zipped to 1.5 Meg. It un-zips to 3.4. The new one seems to not want to zip that small.

Anyone got any ideas?

Oh, how about someone tells me how to post it via google - or similar.
