flying dog Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Just been talking to someone there. It is F A B ! I think I shall try to go there next year. :man flying: (I gotta lay off these smilies)
flying dog Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 And I just realised that it is also probably the "white bay"(?) airshow? Oh well.
Sky Gazer Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Just been talking to someone there.... I think I shall try to go there next year. .. might want to rethink that one as it is on every second year ;) Peter
flying dog Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 Ah, thanks. Yeah, it would be a bit stupid me turning up in a year. ;)
Guest Walter Buschor Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 bundy air show hi there, just come back from bundy- it was a terrific effort- well done everyone. I cannot wait to get back. most displays where abslolute tops. The only thing to put a damper on it was the Gorillas wanting to see security cards even though in the computer download made a poinT that these where not required. I find it a shame that some individuals are given a job- in this case to check for cards - and get a kick out off the power bestowed on them - even when it goes against the ruling of the organizers of this great event. The chief flying instructor of a flying school even told us to leave his area as this was a SECURE site. Guess he saved the world from another bunch of terrorists and all without turning on his brain. well done!! we can sleep peacefully tonight ! what a wank!!! guess who I won't recommend! I do wish that in two years brains are not just optional but mandatory! all else was terrific. I just wish that common sense may rule in the future and a WELL DONE EVERYONE ELSE! safe flying the grey Nomad
Guest ozzie Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 please name the flying school where the 'gorillas' a private security company? do they have a name? Ozzie
flying dog Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 I have been told that the airshow is very badly run. That is why they do it every two years. If they did it yearly, people would remember the previous year. So it is JUST enough time for people to forget how bad it was last time and go again. Hey, I shall try to go in two years anyway, but reading what has been said, I shall have my ASIC card.
rick-p Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Hey I would have love to have gone but because of the presence of a number of Mexicans I held grave concern for the possibility of the pigs flying, go figure. First clue, this is not anaeronautical riddle. Rick-p
turboplanner Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Hey I would have love to have gone but because of the presence of a number of Mexicans I held grave concern for the possibility of the pigs flying, go figure.First clue, this is not anaeronautical riddle. Rick-p Well the pigs already flew down here; we tried to share it around but it just wouldn't take. Even tried it on the Tasmanians but it didn't work there either. We've got a show at Avalon every two years, but its harder to get in and out of the gates than a BNS ball. Funny you should refer to us as Mexicans - Columbians would be better based on what happens when you go for a train ride these days. I was once talking to a customer in Townsville and he spent an hour ranting about smart arses from the south and Mexicans etc., and luckily, just as I was about to defend myself I realised he was talking about Brisbane and I was able to reassure him that I came from further away.
HEON Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Without going into detail, arriving around 0900 on Fri gave the impression that arriving the same time Sat MAY have allowed systems to work better after they worked out what to do. Would also help if Bundy Ground did not stand out in 20kt odd wind trying to be understood using a hand held radio.
BLA82 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Dissapointed Well I just got back and I have to admit an airshow is never a waste of time but what a let down after the 2007 show. Firsty I would like to thank Peter the pilot of Hard Yakka in the Russian Rouettes for his great conversation at the food stall:thumb_up: But as I said this is my interpretation, The viewing areas compared to 07 were:censored:. The sound effects sounded like they were done by Bunderberg State Schools year 7 class. The flying didn't follow the program and the gaps between the flying were ridiculous. The Mustang and Mig displays were great and so were the Yaks but even the amount of stands and displays were down. I understand they were using the other grass runway this year but the tigermoths and others used it in 07 without fencing off half the viewing area. And can the organisers please find another commentator other than John Nox because he is just crap. So wil I go again, you bet but lets hope they pul their finger out. PS I also went to the Hinkler Museum RECOMEND TO ALL:thumb_up::thumb_up:
Yenn Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I went. No problem with gorillas and was never asked for a ASIC. I found all the helpers I came in contact with extremely helpful and after I had a small electrical problem they seemed to keep an eye out for me. I don't think the show or the displays were as good as in 2007, but others may disagree. My only gripes were the use of runway 14 with a strong crosswind, some people had problems, but I suppose they could have requested 25 for safety reasons, and the marshalls did not realise that some taildraggers have no vision ahead. That was soon fixed by a quick word and they were apologetic about it. Overall I would say that the whole show could have been speeded up, and run for less time to allow departing aircraft to get away.
Guest Walter Buschor Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Hi Ozzie, one of the Gorillas was the CFI of a local flying-school. It think it started with B....g. the other individual was the bloke screening the people leaving the viewing area down the back of Rwy 07/25 ( not sure if I got this correct ) to get to their plane. As I stated before the airshow fly-in printout stated clearly that ASIC cards where not required. This was the case on Friday and Saturday but somehow it was not honored on Sunday. safe flying the grey Nomad
Guest ozzie Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Hey Walter. Gee a CFI . Amazing, i just can't understand some attitudes when it comes to 'people skills'. So simple to be polite. The attitude of security needs to be addressed. More for Human Factors maybe.
Guest blakey36 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 It would seem the PROFESSIONAL EVENT ORGANISER of the show was not as PROFESSIONAL as he thinks he is...See all the comments in the General Discussion area. Bryan
