Guest Kevin the Penniless Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Hi, I will soon be needing a hangar for my new Jabiru. Has anybody built a new hangar at Gawler? I'd like to know the process because the paperwork I got from the council is meaningless gibberish. I wouldn't even know where to begin to answer half the questions they ask. I would think they'd know most already seeing as there's at least a dozen new hangars out there. I couldn't state what fees I'd be paying, that's too confusing. Any help appreciated.
Bruce Tuncks Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Hangar at Gawler Hi Kevin, the site manager at Gawler is the Adelaide Soaring Club, the site is owned by the council. You have to be a club member, and hangar sites have to be available. Then you would have to arrange for a shed, in the past many of us built our own. The club will try to help.... I suggest you contact the club secretary, who is a Jabiru pilot too. cheers, Bruce

Would they deal with the questions that the light regional council ask on their application form? The council ask for lot number, folio, hundred etc. What's that crap? They should know that because it's their land.
facthunter Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Details for council application. It's most likely the standard form they use for all applications. This is a test of endurance. Find someone on the council that you can get on with and get a list of ALL the applications that you have to cover, so you know at the start what is expected from you. Hopefully the shed builder will have the experience to deal with his side of it. You will have a wind velocity spec. for the structure and you will most likely need soil tests for the foundations. drainage, fire extinguishers insurance cover. Build a bigger one and let some of it out. The returns are ok but if you carry out a business, servicing repairs, etc you need change rooms , toilets and other safety considerations. Life wasn't meant to be easy. Nev..
