dazza 38 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Hi all, I rang up scenic rim council in regards to the future planning of Boonah Airfield. To find out if there was land availiable to Build a hangar since there is a shortage of Hangars in SE Qld. I was told by a person that the airfield was originaly approved for glider operations only. (Although ultralights have been flying their for twenty or so years). Now to the point - He told me that Brisbane Shire Council is pushing them to move Aircraft from Archerfield to Boonah. This will of course be is being rejected by the scenic rim council due to airfield already receiving the odd noise complaint. They know that 4-stroke ultralights are a lot quieter than GA singles / twins etc. All is not lost how ever, he gave me the phone number of a town planing guy, but as i write this, he is not in his office so i have not been able to talk to him yet. CHEERS
Guest Cloudsuck Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Hey Dazza, if they give you the nod, I'll be happy to go you halves in a hangar...
Turnerj Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Thats good news (about the hangar) i would've thought redcliffe would be a more attractive alternative to archerfeild (being tarmac and all). but i suppose boonah will probabaly last longer than redcliffe.
dazza 38 Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 Hi cloudsuck, i will catch up with at the Airfield. I got on to the town planner. Its a long story but their is a lot hoops to jump through. Main one being that if they leased land, it would have to be advertised (put out to tender) which means that we could miss out anyway. we need existing airfield users support AND support from the local community ie- what benefits would they get if we built the hangar. (I know we could buy a meet pie or something on the way to the airfield.financial benefits to the community ha ha )
