Thruster87 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 This is the 182 which burned down yesterday while it was parked in Mittagong.....Electrical fault is suspected to be the cause
Guest Maj Millard Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 What a shame...it's that bloody pixie that did it !!........................................
Guest watto Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Mittagong is in the news lately, I grew up there and did not find it that interesting.
dazza 38 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 i hate to see a good aeroplane go to waste.
shags_j Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 That looked like a gorgeous paint job. You never get to see paint jobs like that much anymore.
IanR Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I have flown that one a bit - shame. Certainly got looks with the artwork !
Yenn Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Even less interesting since Watto left. Far too cold for me.
Guest watto Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 That cold weather is partly why I left, seemed to rain 300 days a year! I was a house painter back then and it took a great deal of planning to work jobs around the climate.
shags_j Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Lol, just me. I am not having a good day. Might go back to work...
Tomo Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Does anyone know the cause? Yeah, would be interesting to know... Mirror, Magnifying glass in the sun!!?? For it to be electrical, something would have to be left on, Hey?
Guest watto Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 May have left master on? or somebody may have wired something outside the master circuit which should not be done but as with everything it can happen. Or even a pair of eye glasses in the right spot could act as a heat source in certain conditions. The southern highlands although a cold place gets people unprepared as you get freaky very hot days and it can catch you out with your practices. Or a good old fashion wire rub through! I am sure it will be revealed.
Guest ozzie Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 battery box and leads can be a problem in these.
Guest Flyer40 Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 It's a real shame to see it destroyed. Had some fun times in RWK. Happier days...... a trip to the beach.
Guest ozzie Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 At least the best bit survived. could nail it to the hanger wall
Guest watto Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Do we know who owned it? I know one of the chaps that is associated with that club from when I lived there but have not seen him for 20 years! hope it was not Tony's he is a really nice bloke.
