MrH Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I enjoyed my time at Cowra.:jump: Weather was good, people very friendly & knowledgable. Met up with Facthunter & Slarti but no other forum members. Build quality of the experimental aircraft was beautiful to perfection. Brumby factory tour was great. Impressive quality & attitude to their company product. They are building a prototype high wing version. It uses same rear section of the current Brumby. Some pictures below:cool_shades: Cheers H Avenger Avro Check out the instruments & switches! planedriver Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Below are some photos from this forum's Fly-in at Cowra this weekend. Thanks for posting the photo's Geoff. Looks like the weather was ideal, certainly different to Narrromine at Easter. Maybe Natfly should be shifted to somewhere like Cowra around this time of year, when the weather generally is a bit more settled Sorry I could'nt make it, (maybe next year), but happy to know that you guys would have had a great time. Kind regards Planey
Relfy Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Great pics Captain. Wish I could have been there.
Guest Brett Campany Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 And also ............ a well known and well respected Forum members enjoying the weather at Cowra ............... Looks like they hit their head on the leading edge of the aircraft and has ended up, just laying there. Captain Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 While not too many forum members turned up, and we didn't all get together for a major team bonding session, at least Ross (Slarti), John (JRmobile) and I were in a team that got 3rd and a couple of bottles of wine at the SAAA's aviation trivia night on the Friday evening ........... so if anyone wants to know the name of the bloke who was the 1st Aussie to be awared a pilot's licence (it was #74 in the pommy system), or what type of aircraft Joe Blow used in the 1st flight across the Tasman, then just ask Ross or John. But overall, I had a great time ...................
Guest watto Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Looks like it was a lot of fun both if you were verticle or horizontal!
slartibartfast Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I grabbed one of those bottles of wine for us Geoff, but I didn't find you again to drink it. I still have it. You disappeared on Saturday I guess. I had a great weekend, although the RecFlying part was a bit disappointing. Too few turned up, and we got swamped by the larger event. I joined SAAA, lead the fly-by (3 laps), got invited with 3 other attractive planes to take part in a photo shoot over Cowra for the SAAA magazine, caught up with lots of old friends and made new ones, and basically had a bloody good fly away weekend. Even the Sunday morning exodus was controlled and painless. I waited around for a while for my tent to dry. Wouldn't have wanted to wait much longer. The day began to get very rough and blowy, then big CUs started forming, then thunderstorms around the place. Of course I was long on the ground by then. I've got a few photos I can post later too. Still at work now because I spent several hours this arvo finishing my time under the hood in the 172. Just some navs and a test to go now. I'll have to get a formation endorsement too. That photo shoot was fun.
MrH Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Cowra Videos Couple of Videos from Cowra. First is just a general walk about When I get time I'll do one of the Avenger flying past making BIG beautiful noises Cheers H
slartibartfast Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Good one Mr H. You got my wing waggle on the fly-by. I wondered what Howie Hughes commentary would be. He is a pretty entertaining guy. He regaled us on Friday night with bush poetry, ads for Lightwing, and even a song with guitar accompaniment. He gave some good commentary during displays, and even got my speed right during that pass.
MrH Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Ok here is the Grumman Avenger. Makes great noises  Cheers H
Tomo Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Nice one MrH, it certainly makes some nice noises all right!
