Airfields in ERSA that make you think twice about flying there

Hey all!

I've been doing some preparation before flying down to Margaret River next week. I was going through my ERSA reading the YMGT Noise Abatement Procedures and my first thought that came to mind was "why the hell am I going there again?"

If you've got an ERSA, have a look at tell me what you think.

But I was also wondering how many airfields do you guys know of that ask a little more than your average airfield? I'd be quite interested so see how many other councils / airfields have procedures in line with Margaret River.

If you don't have an ERSA yet, here's the online ERSA for you to check out

Wow you're right Brett! If the writing isn't on the wall for this AD I'd be surprised. And what's with the Prior Permission Required from Council for ALL OPS including touch & go's. Is a general full stop landing classed as an OP? Reading that you feel like they're saying "we really don't want you to come here"

Cheers

Dexter

Yup, that was the first impression I got to!

Leeuwin Estate is a bit the same in the WA Country Airstrip guide but I suppose they have a few good reasons.

It can be topic of discussion tomorrow at breaky! I'm sure the wives will really enjoy that!

Sounds like the airport is surrounded by a bunch of uppity, vino sipping aviaphobes to me. Wouldn't want to disturb the popping of the wine bottle corks would we ?

And hey, you think Margaret Rvr is picky, have a look at Townsville Int. if you have a spare half hour !!...and see if you can decifer half of that !!

Springsure QLD has a great entry..

Very interesting circuit area with some very close by terrian that you need to be aware of.

(read : Cliffs, Hills and the idiot who buillt his house on the very end of the runway. -- mmm Hot day, very Little lift there and there goes the TV antenna.)

Holy crap, talk about bed time reading, I'd be nodding off in no time! That's a lot to take in!

No same stuff they've always had, except I thought it used to be 200 hrs in type to land there, but it is now 100 hrs only. They've now got the sealed runways and taxiways etc. and have lost the lovely grass landing area which used to be so nice in a taildragger in high wind.

One thing that wouldn't have changed is the turbulance off the surrounding hills if it's windy. I always tried to arrive either early morning or late, late afternoon. Ok for most experienced pilots but character building if it's windy !!.
