quentas Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Do any readers fly a Jabiru NVFR? I am interested how the electrical system keeps up with all the goodies required for NVFR with a standard Jab alternator. Can an additional alternator possibly be fitted to the vac pump drive for extra redundancy?
flie43 Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Have done a little bit of NVFR in our J230 and haven't noticed a problem but have only been in the circuit and haven't really been looking at voltage etc Terry
facthunter Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Power load analysis. Think all aircraft that operate NVFR are required to do an electrical power load analysis. This fully examines the capacity of the system to cope with whatever loads the lights/ radio/ instruments, etc impose. It would be an airworthiness requirement. Nev
Ross Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I was under the impression that Jabiru alternators had been upgraded to a higher amperage output. Some pilots with new Jabiru motors might comment. I think my older 2200 motor has an 8 amp alternator but I am yet to start it!
jcamp Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Think the standard alternator is 8 amp. The 20 amp option was $220 in 2006
