flying dog Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Hi. You lot who went to Oshkosh, and the "Jet packs". I heard these were in NewZealand and people could fly them - teathered ofcourse. Could anyone help me, as I need a "name" of what they are called and if it was true. It would be so cool to try. Thanks in advance.
flying dog Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 Don't worry. (Sorry) In the mean time, I learnt they won't be operational until next year. DRATS!
flying dog Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Next question: Forgetting the "Jet pack" idea: ULTRA LIGHT flying in NZ - near Auckland. I've been told of Te Kowhai. Anyone here have comments?
Guest Brett Campany Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I don't think an RAAus certification allows you to fly in NZ if that's what you were hoping of doing. There was a post on here some time ago about it. Best you contact the NZ CAA and find out what the regs are.
Guest ozzie Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 As for the Martin Jet Pack. they are asking for volunteers to enter a lottery of which 20 people will be selected to undertake the course to become qualified "factory" pilots for the jet pack. those selected will have to go to the factory in NZ and do the course. details on how to enter will be on their website in the near future. I'm in.
flying dog Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 Ok, what's going on now: Auckland arrive about 13:00. How long would/should it take to drive from there to Te Kowhai? If enough daylight left, I shall try to get some dual time in a Bantam. Next day, more flying - depending - then drive to Rotorua via Tirau. How long? Which is better to stay at: B&B or Hotel/Motels in NZ?
