Guest diesel dog Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 also from south africa.just bought a jabiru j450 transfer of ownership paperwork was hell. constructing hanger at the moment.ground school and flight school to follow. worked as a aircraft mac in the airforce best training anybody could wish for. currently own a automotive machine shop rebuilding internal combustion engines. so much to do and not so much daylight,who came up with a 24hrs day need all the help and info i can get. thanks all regards dieseldog

Jabiru j450 zu-erf collected at shadowlight in george 6hrs drive by car 3.5hrs flight back to base.pilot with wings and pax thats me no wings yet full fuel load take off climb full power 8knt headwind fuel burn 38 ltrs/hrs vertical speed 700ft/min level off 1500ft clear contolled airspace climb out to 6500ft reduce power 2950rpm cruise 105knts egt720 cht145 .landed at home base 12kts crosswind came in on finals to high and hot go around came in steep and slow ballooned slightly and touchdown lots of rudder action. What a beautifull day.i have got to get some wings and soon. . Stanzahero our company rebuilds petrol and diesel engines automotive industrial and agricultural up to 300hp with in shop block boring honing rod resizing line boring cranck grinding pressure testing cylinder skimming valve refaceing seat and guide mach metal stiching cast iron and alluminium welding we also have a general engineering shop that does jobbing and manufactures agri implements.regards diesel dog
stanzahero Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Sounds like a well equipped shop. The only thing you didn't mention was cam grinding! I spent my early (8) years doing cylinder head and block work for Isuzu, Toyota, Bedford and Perkins then ended up as a BMW and Benz head specialist. One of the things that got me into aviation was the Piston engines in the planes. And now my wife (also a RAA pilot) and I are even looking at getting our own wings.
